Summer Fete

posted 6 Jul 2009 09:35 by VIVIENNE NORTHALL

Yesterday was a great day out for so many.  The fete has grown year on year and is now a major event on Chafford for our community.  The weather was kind and so many people made the effort to come along, it was lovely to see many of our current and past members of the school coming to say hello - some from as far a field as America.

The pony rides were a great success and our thanks go to the family who gave up their time and ponies for everyone to enjoy. It was also nice to see a traditional Punch and Judy show in operation.

The bouncy castles were as popular as ever, as where many of the traditional stalls and events.

I didn't see so much as the BBQ smoke rendered me partially sighted for some of the day!  The team on the BBQ, especially the helpers who cooked, did a great job as it was so hot and smokey. I know we sold over 750 burgers and hot dogs.  The beer tent was also busy and there wasnt much left at the end of the day.

I will let you know how much we made as soon as we have an idea of profit, although it wasn't  just about raising money. It was a family day for the community.

My sincere thanks go to everyone who supported the day in whatever way they were able.

Well done to you all - we will soon be planning Christmas . . .

SUMMER FETE JULY 5TH 2009

posted 1 Jun 2009 10:00 by VIVIENNE NORTHALL

The Friends of Tudor Court have been working hard to get the summer fete organised and as ever are doing a really good job.  Please see the attached newsletter which is the first fete newsletter telling everyone of what is happening.

The committee only has a few members and they would welcome any offers of help with organising events and of course they need lots of support to arrange the summer fete as it is always such a busy and successful day.

Without eveyone helping the event will be unable to run and then the children will be moaning!

FTCA update.

posted 8 May 2009 08:25 by VIVIENNE NORTHALL

There was a committee meeting on 7th May.  Future events were planned for and new ideas discussed. The success of recent events such as the Mothers Day plants and sale of Southend wrist bands were reviewed.

The Friends of Tudor Court agreed to support the purchase of £15,000 new books for the library from the funds they have raised over the last two years.  The children will be working with the staff to select the non fiction books that they want and these will be ordered shortly.

The Summer Fete  planning is now well underway for Sunday 5th July and there are some new and very interesting additions which I know the children are going to love.

The FTCA are able to register on a fundraising website which allows our shopping community to raise funding from many companies that you shop with on line.  More details to follow shortly.

Events that are in the early planning stages include evening films shows that could be arranged for the children in the Autumn Term and the possibility of a performance opportunity for children in our own 'Big Top' .

From now on all FTCA newsletters will be attached to this web page for ease of access.
