Modern Foreign Languages

French

Language teaching at Tudor Court provides the foundation for learning further languages in KS3. 0ur approach to foreign language learning focuses on fostering an interest in French through active engagement in listening, speaking, and writing activities. Our French curriculum emphasises
language acquisition and encourages a deeper appreciation for French culture.

In Years 3 and 4, children begin their French journey through their listening skills and responding to
the French language. As they progress to Years 5 and 6, this is developed through the written aspect
of French, where they explore grammar, spelling, and the crucial element of pronunciation in French
phrases.

Throughout their learning journey, our pupils gain the ability to participate in brief conversations in French, enabling them to understand simple phrases and have the confidence to respond. Every unit has opportunities for pupils to communicate in role-play scenarios and improve the
accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.
